Make sure your voice is heard by registering to vote, particularly if you are new to London and studying away from home.

To be eligible to vote you need to be:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • a British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen (a citizen is someone who has leave to enter or remain in the UK, or does not require such leave) or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland.

You can be registered to vote at both your home and term-time address. Just pick location that is most convenient for you on Election Day. You can only vote once in general elections but you can vote in your home and term-time local authority in local elections. It only takes three minutes and you can complete it online.

If you think you might already be registered, you can get in touch with your Local Authority. You can contact them here to check.

You can even get your vote in by post. You will need to fill out a form and send it back to the Local Authority, so make sure you do this in good time.
