Combining journalism and online theatre, five graduates used diverse forms of storytelling to showcase their unpublished work.

The performance marked the second show from the News on Stage research project, a collaboration between City’s Department of Journalism and Nottingham Trent University, which investigates the power of journalism, theatre and the public sphere.

Speaking on the event, Dr Glenda Cooper, Senior Lecturer said: “As journalists, we often get told we’re to blame for everything and that no one trusts us anymore.

“Part of the News on Stage project gives members of the public an opportunity to hear, watch and experience some of our work to get a better idea on what we are all about.

“With the decline of many local and national newspapers, and with community readers disappearing, we want to work out how we can bring those people together again and perhaps events like this could be an option.”
