On Monday 10th May, the Prime Minister confirmed the next stage in the easing of restrictions will take place in England.

From Monday 17th May a number of changes will take place, including:

  • Indoor hospitality and indoor entertainment can reopen, including cinemas and museums.
  • Up to six people or two households will be able to meet indoors.
  • Up to 30 people will be able to meet outdoors.
  • All remaining university students will be eligible to return from 17th May and should get tested twice a week upon return.
  • The public can make informed, personal decisions on close contact, such as hugging, with their friends and family. Close contact continues to carry a risk of catching or spreading Covid-19, and people must consider the risk to themselves and to others.

You can read the full details of the changes on the Government website.

What this means for City

We are currently developing our plans for how the easing of restrictions will impact our campus from Monday 17th May onwards and will be in touch with more information soon. Please continue to check your City email address and this Student Hub story for further updates.

If you will be coming onto campus, we strongly encourage you to take regular tests and only come onto campus on the basis of a negative Covid-19 result. You can book free asymptomatic tests through our UoL partnership or use community testing in your local area.
