The scholarships for the 2022/23 academic year are are worth £18,000 and potentially Central London accomodation.

The Sekforde House Trust are offering six £18,000 scholarships with the hope of four of the six scholars being offered rent free (all bills paid) accommodation in Clerkenwell, Central London in a shared “scholars house”.

The Trust was founded in memory of Professor Dame Kathleen Lonsdale FRS with the purpose of to promote education through the likes of the scholarships by investing in the education and future of exceptional students in the hope and expectation that there will be a return to society.

Application for the scholarship

The scholarships are open to current City students at all levels of study and will be assessed against the following criteria:

  1. Outstanding academic or other ability
  2. Financial need
  3. A desire and ability to make the world fairer and more sustainable

To apply you will need to supply:

  • A personal statement (700 words max)
  • A CV (one A4 page)
  • A reference that you cannot have read (500 words max)
  • An academic reference that you cannot have read (500 words max)
  • Examples of your work or anything published online (optional)

This will need to delivered either by hand or post to 34 Sekforde Street, London, EC1R 0HA, no later Sunday 26 June 2022 at 11.59pm.

Approximately 12 – 15 candidates will then be selected for interviews which will take place in July and last about 30 minutes. If successful, you will be notified within 24 hours of the final interview.
