Running 10 - 16 February 2025, Student Volunteering Week recognises how volunteering supports student wellbeing, contributes to the wider community and can improve employability.
Every year the University’s Volunteering team host a series of events to give you a taste of the volunteering opportunities available to you.
This year, there’s lots of activities to get involved with. From a Volunteering Fair to helping at a baby bank, there’s something for everyone.

Tuesday 11 February 11am - 12pm | Volunteer for your Career. Workshop with KEEN London |
The Volunteering team will be joined by KEEN London, a North London charity that offers free, engaging and accessible activities for children with additional needs and disabilities. We will be talking about how volunteering can build valuable work experience for your CV, what sorts of skills you can develop, and how you can articulate these in job applications. |

Tuesday 11 February 3pm - 5pm (timed slots) | School of Health and Psychological Sciences (SHPS) Volunteering Fair |
The Volunteering team are welcoming ten charities to City St George's for the annual SHPS Volunteering Fair. Open to all students, this is your opportunity to meet charities across a range of causes, including education, children and young people, women's support, health and social care, and mental health. Confirmed stallholders include Childline, Solace, St Joseph's Hospice, and Headway East London, with more to come! |

Wednesday 12 February around midday | One-off volunteering: gardening and clear up of The Peel community centre |
Join the Volunteering team at The Peel, Clerkenwell’s local community centre. They’ll help to give the space a clear-up, making it a welcoming place for visitors and tidying the playground for the children. If you’re looking for a break from studying for an hour or so, this is a great chance to get some fresh air and make a real difference in the community! |

Wednesday 12 February 1pm - 2pm | Student Leaders – How can we improve your Students’ Union? |
Calling all student leaders! Join us for a dynamic and interactive forum where your voice can shape the future of our Students' Union. This event is designed for Society Committees, Sports Captains, Assembly members and Programme Representatives to share their insights and suggestions on how we can better support students running in the upcoming elections, and also potential election candidates. |

Join us for an open and inclusive event where every student's voice matters! "How to Improve Life at City St George's" is your chance to share your ideas and suggestions for making our university a better place. Thursday 13 February 2pm - 4pm | One-off volunteering: Knitting and Crocheting for Age UK |
The Big Knit is Age UK's partnership with innocent drinks. They've been working together since 2003, asking the country's crafters to knit little hats for the tops of innocent smoothie bottles. Every hat knitted raises 30p to help Age UK provide much-needed services and support to older people. The little hats will appear on top of innocent smoothie bottles, available in shops from October 2025. All materials will be provided, and all abilities are welcome – there will be tutorials and patterns. |

Thursday 13 February 4pm - 5pm | Discover Volunteer Placements with Action Tutoring |
Action Tutoring is excited to host a special online event to introduce students to the benefits of doing their university placement with Action. During this session, students will hear from current and experienced Action Tutoring placement students and learn about how they can support disadvantaged young people with their English and Maths, gain valuable teaching experience, and develop key skills for their future careers. |

Friday 14 February 10am - 2pm | One-off volunteering at Little Village Baby Bank |
The Volunteering team will head to Little Village in Camden, a baby bank that collects preloved baby and children's items and creates beautiful packages for families to collect. This is a one-off volunteering day exclusive to City St George's students, and there are a maximum of 8 spaces available for volunteers to attend. Spaces are allocated on a first come first served basis. |
