From LGBTQI+ Pizza Socials to queer bookshops and yoga, explore the resources and events on offer at City St George’s and across London.
Now in its 20th year, LGBTQ+ History Month celebrates the rich and diverse history, herstory and theirstory of LGBTQ+ activists who have helped shape and create social change, advancing society for everyone.

Events at City St George’s
City St George’s Students’ Union (SU) is hosting a number of events throughout February for LGBTQI+ History Month.

CityLibrary display and resources
Library Services have set up a display for LGBTQ+ History Month, highlighting books and films that explore sexuality and identity.
Find them at Northampton Square Library, the Law Library and Bayes Business Library. The content from the display can be explored anytime online. There is also a permanent collection of fiction and non-fiction books and audiobooks exploring sexuality and identity on Libby.
Exploring Queer London
LGBTQ+ History Month events
Free LGBTQ+ tours of the Tate Modern and Tate Britain are taking place in February. The tours will explore the museums’ collections through the lenses of gender identity and sexuality. The tours are subject to cancellation, so make sure to ring the ticket offices on the day to check they’re going ahead.
Explore London’s queer history with a guided walking tour through the City of London, organised by London Museum. The tours cost £12 with a student ID, make sure to book in advance.
On Thursday 13 February, The Clapham Grand is hosting a queer comedy night ‘Unlucky in Love’ and forgetting all about Valentine’s Day. All profits will go towards supporting the most vulnerable members of the LGBTQ+ community.
On Wednesday 19 February, Rio Cinema in Dalston are hosting a film night, showing powerful short films that explore intersectionality and queer history. Tickets cost £12.
All-year round
For book lovers, don’t miss Gay’s the Word bookshop near Bloomsbury. Featuring new and prize-winning literature, this is the oldest LGBTQ+ bookshop in the UK.
Visit the King’s Head theatre for performances showcasing LGBTQ+ work. Guided by the artistic policy of joyful, irreverent, colourful and queer, you can find performances of opera, drag, comedy and more.
Queer Britain is the UK’s first (and only) LGBTQ+ museum, celebrating queer history and culture. Entry is free to this iconic venue in King’s Cross.
LGBTQIA+ bookshop and events space, The Common Room in Bethnal Green, hosts dance classes, yoga sessions, book clubs, workshops and family friendly events.
Secret London have compiled a list of London’s best LGBTQ+ bars, which regularly host karaoke nights, drag performances and live music.
Support and resources at City St George’s

The University’s LGBTQ+ Society, regularly host socials, attend campaigns and run educational events. Open to all students, you can reach out to them via email or via social media.
