Transcripts

An official transcript is a statement of your academic performance and progress on your programme of study at City, University of London. It confirms that you are or were a registered student at City and includes the following information:

• Student details
• Programme of study
• Qualification and final result achieved for your programme of study
• Record of learning and achievement including a list of modules that you have taken, together with the marks and credits achieved
• Information signifying it is an official transcript, for example the City stamp.

To verify the contents of the transcript, or obtain duplicate copies, contact the issuing school, as signified on the authenticating.

Please note, there may be a charge for each duplicate.

Normally transcripts are prepared within 10 working days from the receipt of the application, but it can be longer during busy periods (especially during exam periods and the start of the autumn term).  For students who graduated prior to 2004 (and especially those pre-1984), it can take much longer as many may only be available as paper records. It is therefore a good idea to order your transcripts as early as possible to ensure they are ready in time for any deadlines.

HECoS Codes

HECoS (Higher Education Classification of Subjects) is the system used to identify the subject matter of programmes and modules.

HECoS is used by the following:

• UK Higher Education Institutions
• Department for Education (DfE)
• Office for Students (OfS)
• Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA)
• UK Government Home Office
• UCAS

Codes are formed from 6 digits which are randomly generated and have no inherent meaning in themselves.

For example:

• Midwifery – 100288 (Midwifery 100%)
• Business and Finance – 100078 (Business 50%) and 100107 (Finance 50%)
• Sociology with Psychology – 100505 (Sociology 67%) with 100497 (Psychology 33%)
• The same code is used for Undergraduate and Postgraduate.

HECoS codes came in to use in September 2019 and replaces the JACS system which had been running since 2002. The new classifications allow us to be much more flexible with the subjects we offer and tailor our programmes to our students interests.
