Welcome to women’s rugby at City!
There is no denying that rugby can be a daunting sport in the beginning, but the majority of our girls have never played rugby previously and end up loving it in the end.
Our team is unique at City as we form part of the team Lil Baba’s, that is made up of various different universities around London, such as SOAS, so you will get the chance to meet and make friends with people that you would never normally come across in such a big city.
We believe our team strongly fights against the stereotype of what a “typical” woman’s rugby player looks like. We have girls of all different heights, shapes and sizes (smallest being 5ft/155cm). So if you are sat reading this and wondering “would I even be capable to play?” the answer is yes!
Joining our team will give you the opportunity to form long lasting friendships, build strength & fitness and ultimately some good stress relief after a stressful week at university.
Throughout the year we have a lot planned for you! The team attends Merit Festivals that will allow you to improve your game skills in mini-games against various teams in London. As well as a weekly touch rugby social session that will be hosted by us and the men’s rugby team, to not only further improve your basic skills but to have some fun at the same time. Then to top it off socials and sports night at CityBar with all the teams in the university!
To join the team there are no trials. We welcome anyone who is willing to get a bit muddy!
