This Girl Can
Each year, City takes part in the Sport England national #ThisGirlCan campaign, encouraging women to become more active in their daily lives. This Girl Can is for everyone, whatever your experience. It’s a brilliant way to keep healthy and feel good. The benefits of exercise for mental health are well documented, so that’s another great reason to get active.
Our #ThisCityGirlCan week usually takes place in the first term, with a week of fun and friendly activities for all City female students to try out. In past years, we’ve held various give-it-a-go sessions, from learning to lift weights, rugby, netball, cheerleading, meditation and even neon hula hoop, to name a few.

Following this year’s theme of overcoming challenges, we also spoke to six City students involved in sports at individual or team level to find out how they balance their studies alongside keeping active, and their advice for those considering joining a team or becoming more active.
