Being active has numerous physical and mental health benefits. Whether you a seasoned gym-goer, or someone looking to start being active, City St George’s can help.
Our activities
CitySport has sports activities (from badminton and pickleball to basketball and futsal), fitness classes (yoga and Pilates, Zumba, spin), and gym access and fast classes all available to you.
We make it as cheap as possible for you to be active with our heavily subsidised memberships, so sign up today or simply do pay as you go.
Robert Lowe Sports Centre
Students can also book activities within the Robert Lowe Sports Centre by contacting the students’ Union.
Be Active, Feel Well Programme
This is our programme for those that might be new to exercising, want additional support, or have been referred by other university Services.
Running continuously throughout the whole year, Be Active, Feel Well is a 12-week programme that includes 12 classes, 4 one-to-one sessions, and social badminton sessions.
The wellbeing drop in session provides additional support and the informational booklet providing additional tips on exercise, nutrition, and wellbeing.
By the end of the programme to help you will have gained essential knowledge, skills, and advice to help you make small changes with significant results! Incorporate healthy routines into your day-to-day life.

Hardship Fund
CitySport have a range of affordable memberships to enable students to be active. However, we understand that many students many be experiencing unexpected financial hardship. Eligible students can receive a free CitySport Student Membership to facilitate exercise.
Am I Eligible?
Students who have received support through the City St George’s Hardship Fund or the Students’ Union’s Alternative Financial Support in the current university year and haven’t applied for the support before are eligible to apply.
Please be aware that the Sport and Leisure staff will contact the Student Support Service and Students’ Union teams to confirm that you are in receipt of funding.
Applications will be rejected if students have not yet received the support. Therefore, please do not apply for the Sport and Leisure Hardship Fund until this is confirmed, even if your application is in process.
